The Subways Drummer Camille Phillips Welcomed To The Mapex Drums Family

Drummer’s Review

Mapex Drums are proud to welcome Camille Phillips of The Subways to their artist family!

Cutting her teeth with hard study, local gigs and inspirations including Chad Smith and Dave Grohl, Camille started her professional playing career with The Ramonas before recently bringing her high-energy drumming to rock band The Subways.

Camille has chosen an Exotic Azure Burst Saturn Evolution Hybrid kit with a Black Panther Persuader snare as her live rig and will be taking them straight out on the road to tour the band’s new album.

Alongside the band, Camille also works as freelance session drummer and is a hugely passionate teacher – working from her Brighton studio she’s also chosen an Armory kit in Caribbean Burst to use for lessons.

“Being primarily a hard-hitting rock drummer, Mapex drums always delivered the sound and clarity that I need! However, the Saturn Evolution kit is brilliantly balanced and versatile, with Birch/Walnut toms delivering a warm and melodic tone that is so beautifully resonant and a Maple/Walnut bass drum which packs a serious low-end punch where it’s needed. The Black Panther Persuader is also highly versatile with its tuning range and seriously cutting for loud music when you need it to be, it’s a snare you can really feel as well as hear”
