Christopher Lamb Joins Majestic Percussion

Drummer’s Review

Majestic Percussion is pleased to welcome world renowned artist Christopher Lamb to the Majestic family. Maintaining a diverse and unparalleled career as both a performer and educator for over three decades, Christopher currently holds the The Constance R. Hoguet Friends of the Philharmonic Chair of Principal Percussionist in the New York Philharmonic as well as Chair of the Percussion department at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music.

Upon reflecting on the partnership, Lamb recalls, “Every day brings new musical opportunities and I will always “go to” whatever instrument “goes with” the specific musical situation or works best in a particular space.” Majestic’s impressive range of products, design capabilities, and understanding of the landscape of a percussionist’s musical needs is what drew Lamb to the company, “Because the events in a concert hall are quite varied, the idea of a collection of instruments, specifically the Opus One Snare Drum Series, demonstrates insight and know-how that will give Majestic a footprint on the big stage. That collective global thinking, flexibility and “can-do” attitude is something any musician would want to find when dealing with any instrument maker.”

In addition to presenting clinics and master classes throughout the United States and abroad, Christopher has performed as a soloist with several major orchestras in the United States, along with The London Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw, Leipzig’s Gewandhaus Orchestra, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. He also won a Grammy for Best Classical Instrumental Soloist for his recording of Schwantner’s Percussion Concerto with the Nashville Symphony in 2011. Majestic US Brand Manager Nic Milliner says of Lamb, “Chris was an integral part of the development of the new Opus One snare drum series and it was amazing to witness the knowledge, passion, and attention to detail he brought to the project. He is known to the world as a virtuoso player and a revered educator but also brings years of valuable hands-on experience with some of the most coveted percussion instruments in existence. It’s an honor and an amazing opportunity for the Majestic to collaborate with Chris now and into the future.”

About Majestic Percussion:
Majestic Percussion traces its beginnings to 1921 with the founding of the Van der Glas company in The Netherlands. The Majestic brand became known for producing high-quality drum sets in the 1960’s, and was gradually expanded to offer the full range of concert percussion instruments that it is known for throughout the world today. Majestic has become the preferred brand of many discriminating percussion performers and educators who know they can rely on carefully constructed instruments born from both traditional percussion heritage and a culture of innovation.
